Senate Hearing for Steven Bradbury’s Confirmation as Deputy Secretary of Transportation

The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee held a confirmation hearing for Steven Bradbury, President Trump’s nominee for U.S. Deputy Secretary of Transportation. His confirmation comes as the Department of Transportation (DOT) transitions following the resignation of former Deputy Secretary Polly Trottenberg. During the hearing, Bradbury is expected to address the challenges facing the DOT and his vision for U.S. transportation infrastructure.
Bradbury, a Distinguished Fellow at The Heritage Foundation, brings extensive experience, having served as DOT General Counsel under Trump and in various roles at the Department of Justice during the Bush administration. He also briefly served as Acting Deputy Secretary and Acting Secretary of Transportation.
Senator Cruz endorsed Bradbury, praising his leadership at DOT, where he oversaw regulatory reforms and saved $98 billion. Cruz emphasized Bradbury’s legal expertise and commitment to transportation safety, particularly in aviation.
Bradbury’s nomination has strong support from several transportation groups, including the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), which represents over 2,000 logistics companies. TIA advocates for Bradbury’s leadership on issues such as market competition, supply chain fraud and restoring FMCSA’s authority over unauthorized brokerage activities.
