Meet the Brokers: Sunrise Logistics

Sunrise Logistics Meet the Brokers

Share

Following National Logistics Day on June 28, TIA is continuing to highlight the small and mid-sized businesses that help keep America’s supply chain moving. From helping food reach store shelves to solving problems before they become costly disruptions, freight brokers work behind the scenes every day to keep products moving. Today, we’re featuring Sunrise Logistics of Ephrata, Pennsylvania.

Q&A with Sunrise Logistics

About Us
Fresh food is on the clock from the second it’s picked. Sunrise Logistics has spent close to 20 years making sure it gets where it’s going before that clock runs out.

Sunrise is the freight and 3PL side of the Four Seasons Family of Companies, a family-owned fresh food business that’s been at this since 1976. They run cold storage, cross-docking, repacking, ripening, and freight brokerage for growers, shippers, and retailers up and down the East Coast, with trucks reaching from Boston and New York down to the Carolinas and out to Ohio.

Keeping Freight Moving
Sunrise Logistics helps move fresh produce and fresh food throughout the East Coast, including products like HPP cold-pressed juice and hummus destined for Boston, New York City, Long Island, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.

One example of the challenges the team solves every day involved a load of broccoli that was shipping warm and risked being rejected by the customer. Sunrise caught the issue before the truck rolled, ensured the proper equipment was in place, and communicated the temperature requirements needed to keep the product viable.

As they put it, much of the job is spotting the problem before it becomes someone else’s problem.

Supporting Our Community
The Hollinger family lives by a simple motto: “Blessed to be a blessing.”

The company tithes 10% of its profits back to the community each year and hosts an annual Make-A-Wish golf outing that fills two full courses, with every dollar raised going directly to Make-A-Wish.
