From Olney to Washington, D.C.: Congressman Bost Pushes for Safer, Stronger Freight Industry

OLNEY, IL — [August 18, 2025] —TIA member AM Transport Services welcomed U.S. Congressman Mike Bost (IL-12) to its Olney headquarters on August 14, 2025, for a discussion on the critical role freight brokers play in the transportation industry.
The conversation addressed key issues, including the nationwide shortage of safe truck parking, the surge in organized fraud schemes targeting supply chains, and the distinction between bona fide brokers and unauthorized dispatch services.
Hosted in partnership with the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), the event examined both local and national impacts of these challenges, as well as legislative solutions such as the Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act (H.R. 1659) – introduced by Congressman Bost, the Household Goods Consumer Protection Act (H.R. 880), and the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (H.R. 2853), of which he is an early co-sponsor.
Congressman Bost joined the AM Transport team and TIA representatives to explore how policy, industry innovation, and community engagement can strengthen safety, protect small businesses, and support economic growth in Illinois.
“Whether it’s giving truck drivers a safe place to rest or shutting down criminal actors who exploit the supply chain, these are issues that affect every community,” said Chris Burroughs, President & CEO of TIA. “We thank Congressman Bost for his continued advocacy for the industry and for small businesses like AM Transport Services, and we’re proud to partner with him to spotlight the local jobs, investment, and leadership that help keep freight moving.”

Congressman Bost’s own roots run deep in trucking. Before entering public service, he worked at Bost Truck Service, his family’s third-generation business founded in 1935 during the Great Depression. With more than 80 years of experience serving home, farm, and business customers, the company has built its reputation on safety, hard work, and adaptability – values shared across TIA’s membership.
AM Transport Services and TIA thank Congressman Mike Bost, who has represented Illinois’ 12th District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2015, for his steadfast support of the trucking and brokerage community through his work on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with him toward the successful passage of the next Surface Transportation Reauthorization in the fall 2026.
